Henry Holland: 'technology is transforming fashion but making us so vain'

Holland, 32, predicts that technology will open up fashion shows, with augmented reality streams giving consumers product information and details about where to buy the clothes.

He said it could also make the buying process easier and faster, rather than having to wait for months after a show.

He added: "There’s only so long that fashion houses are going to spend huge amounts of money on shows and not get their money back. The fact that those looks are on Instagram while the public has to wait three months to purchase them seems so backward."

In September he recruited friends Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung to buy his clothes straight off the catwalk at London Fashion Week. And although the purpose of fashion shows might change, he said they will not disappear.

Holland added that the evolving nature of social media had led to people becoming more conscious of how they look.

"The fact that we broadcast our lives all over the internet means all aspects of our lives become more curated," he said.

"People are conscious about what their houses look like in their Instagram feeds and they’re conscious of their outfits. If they like their outfit they’ll post it, it’s show-off. People are more conscious of what their lives look like and we all know the reality is you’re sat by yourself with a hot chocolate."

Holland has created a phone case with goo.ey that lets people use their phone hands-free by sticking it to glass and mirrors. It is available from House of Holland’s online shop and Selfridges.Read more at:pink prom dresses
